Last season the Cleveland Browns fans were treated to having something special with linebacker D’Qwell Jackson returning to play in a season healthy. Jackson had a fantastic year and led the Browns in many stats. Browns coaches and fans are wondering if the defensive line is going to have huge holes in it this season. With the absence of Phil Taylor and Ahtyba Rubin, D’Qwell Jackson may have his hands full helping the Browns stop the run.
The Cleveland Browns defense ranked very highly in past defending the pass but lacked when it came to stopping the run. Many critics of the Cleveland Browns said that stat was skewed , teams didn’t have to throw against the Cleveland defense they could run the ball. This year I would expect the Cleveland defense to be even better at defending the pass with a healthy T.J. Ward returning. Not only will D’Qwell Jackson add to the Browns run defense with a healthy T.J. Ward the browns secondary could be very successful in protecting against the pass.
The Cleveland Browns General Manager Tom Heckert made moves during the off-season to help solidify the Cleveland browns defensive line. Little did Tom Heckert know the Cleveland browns defensive line was going to suffer big injuries to take two big players of the game. With these two big bodies missing from the defensive line, the Browns will look towards D’Qwell Jackson in stepping up at the linebacker position to help plug the holes that will be left in the defensive line to stop the run.
2011 was the first season D’Qwell Jackson could compete for the Cleveland browns in all 16 games. Jackson had 158 tackles last season, 3 1/2 sacks one interception which he returned for 24 yards. This season with D’Qwell Jackson being counted on to help plug the holes in the defensive line, he could post numbers are larger than those. I ‘m looking for D’Qwell Jackson to have a banner year for the Cleveland Browns the browns just need to hope D’Qwell Jackson can stay healthy for the entire 2012 campaign.
