It looked like the Cleveland Indians and Ubaldo Jimenez put it in overdrive in last nights game. The Indians beat the Oakland A’s 7-1 to get a much-needed win. Not only did Jimenez pitch well, the Indians bull pen did an awesome job too.
Jimenez pitched 5-2/3′s inning and only gave up 1 hit in the game. That’s the good news, he walked 5 and he struck out 8. You could say this was one of his better outings. Jimenez was on the money last night and Francona knew when to take the big man out.
The Indians would go to their bull-pen and use 4 pitchers. None of them gave up a run. When was the last time we have seen that? The Indians jumped out to an early lead in the game scoring 2 runs in the first inning.
The first run came off a Nick Swisher home run and the second came off a Asdrubal Cabrera single that drove in Santana. Good to see Cabrera do something, he has struggled as of late both at the plate and in the field. The single breaks a 0-19 streak if I am not wrong.
In the 6th Cabrera’s bat came alive again, this time he hit a double that drove in Brantley to make it 3-zip Tribe. In the 7th inning the Tribe would see another home run this time coming off the bat of Michael Bourn.
Swisher and Kipnis would drive in the runs in the 9th and it was good to see the Indians offense was still around. For a while people have thought they lost it. The Indians would pick up the much-needed win and they could take this series against Oakland with another win today.
With the win the Indians moved back into second place in the A.L. Central and are 6 games behind Detroit. They are 3-1/2 games back in the wild card race.
