Can someone please tell us what happened to the Justin Masterson the Cleveland Indians used to have? There was a time when he was considered the ace, in the Indians starting rotation. This season he has struggled miserably.
He looks nothing like the Masterson of old. The Indians started a series in Arizona last night, Masterson was the starting pitcher. The guy the Tribe once counted on to give some good innings of work, lasted just 4 innings.
Yes sir, Justin Masterson the man who wanted to extend his contract with the Cleveland Indians before the season started, had another terrible outing. The results weren’t pretty. Masterson gave up, 7 hits and 5 runs in his 4 innings of work.
He struck out 6, but walked 4, showing once again he is suffering from control problems. Masterson was a ground ball out, specialist. Those days are gone, for at least the time being. The Indians pitching coach Mickey Callaway, needs to have a long talk with Masterson.
There is still a lot of baseball left this season, the Indians are now in a 4 game losing streak. Losing last night by a score of 9-8 is heart-breaking for Indians fans. The offense did its job, but the starting pitching couldn’t get it done.
It’s no wonder the Indians are looking for pitching help, had they had a decent pitcher, the Indians would have won last night.
