Our condolences go out to the Nick Swisher family on the loss of his mother. He is back in Goodyear Arizona after what had to be a very difficult time for him and his family. No matter how long we have our mothers, no one is ever ready to lose one. Nick Swisher had to leave his teammates to return to Ohio to attend the funeral services of his mother. Now that he is back with his teammates, he has to be feeling some of the excitement he felt before the death of his mother.

It is hard to say how many times Swisher used the phrase he is excited when he signed with the Cleveland Indians.  I read somewhere that is Swisher hits a home run for every time he used the word excited, he will have his best season in major league baseball. Swisher who spent the last 4 years with the New York Yankees could bring something to the Indians they missed in 2012, he could bring a bat that could help the Indians win ball games and play first base.

Last season the Tribe had a great defensive effort at first base but very little offense. This season with Swisher playing first base, he could be an offensive weapon as well. Swisher has a lifetime batting average of .256, has hit 209 home runs in his 8 years in the big leagues. He has 673 R.B.I.’s and he has 1,085 hits. Swisher is the kind of guy who can hit for power or hit in situations. He has a lifetime on base percentage of .361. The Indians are going to be counting on Swisher to bring those stats with him this season.

The Tribe is in for a real treat with a guy like Nick Swisher, this guy is the type of player who could have his very best year and dedicate it to his mother. Swisher is a true professional and he will leave everything on the field every time he plays the game. I think the Cleveland Indians are in for a real treat with this guy this year and so are the fans.  I look for Swisher to bring his experience to the Cleveland Indians and help the team get excited about the 1013 season. Swisher has played in a all star game in 201o and is a World Series Champion too. It isn’t that often the rest of the Indians get to suit up with a World Series Champion. I look for big things coming out of Nick Swisher this season….

I don’t expect a drop off due to his mother’s death. We could even see better numbers than we previously expected.

Condolences to him and his family.
