Indians Closer Chris Perez was sent in to close a game out in St. Louis this afternoon, the good news is Perez was able to get the Indians the 4-1 win to take the series from the St. Louis Cardinals, the bad news is, shortly after the win Perez fell to one knee on the left side of the pitchers mound and vomited on the field. Many though Perez was really going to be sick. The truth is Perez drank a large amounts
of warm water before entering the game and it didn’t agree with the Indians closer.
The Indians saw a great effort from Ubaldo Jimenez today as he held the Cards to just one run and he was able to pitch seven innings and he looked like a guy who could have possibly went longer. Jimenez had seven strike outs, kept his pitch count low and was able to strike out more batters than he walked. The truth is Jimenez didn’t walk one hitter today. This cold be one of his best outings since coming to the Cleveland Indians. Jimenez is looking better in each start he has this season. I for one am hoping this tread continues for Ubaldo Jimenez.
The Hero in today’s game is a familiar face. None other than the Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis who continues to amaze many. Kipnis was able to hit a ninth inning three run blast to give the Indians a 4-1 lead over the world champion Cardinals to take their second series on this road trip. The Tribe now travels to Cincinnati to take on the Reds in a three game series.
The Indians remain 1/2 game behind the White Sox in second place in the A.L. Central at 32-27 on the year. The Detroit Tigers are five games behind the Indians in third place.
