The Cleveland Browns held a private workout with, Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr on Monday. People close to the situation said this was a fantastic opportunity to see exactly what Carr’s abilities are.

Both, Carr and the Cleveland Browns said, the private workout went incredibly well. Carr’s visit with the Browns started out with a dinner Sunday night. He had dinner with Browns GM Ray Farmer and the team’s new offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, and quarterbacks coach Dowell along with head coach Mike Pettine.

Carr then put on a brilliant display of arm strength on Monday and was hitting pin-point passes with incredible accuracy.  Everyone who watched was impressed with Carr.

He showed the Browns exactly what they wanted to see and he is very high on the Browns list of quarterback prospects.

Carr’s private workout was conducted by Browns OC Shanahan. Carr had this to say following the workout;

“Everything went great. It went exactly how we wanted it to and now of course, we just wait until May and see how they’re feeling.”

Is Carr the Browns man when it comes to drafting a franchise QB? Mike Pettine the Browns new rookie head coach said;

“I think he’s the best natural thrower as far as arm strength in the draft,” Pettine said at the NFL Annual Meeting last week. “(He’s) very physically-gifted. And a lot of times it’s hard to bet against the family history as well. You’re talking about like a Jake Matthews (where) it’s the old ‘don’t bet against the genetics.’ I think he certainly falls into that category as well.”

The Browns have been high on Derek Carr since the talk started about finding a franchise quarterback. The team likes the way Carr throws the football and they like the way this kid thinks.

Cleveland is going to hold private workouts with all the QB’s in this years draft. But I look for the Cleveland Browns to draft Derek Carr come May.

    I also like Carr, but not with the #4.

    I would like them to draft him at #26. At #4, I like either Robinson or Matthews at right offensive tackle. Move Schwartz to right guard. I think the right side of the OL is fixed if this happens. There are several really good WR’s; get our #2 WR in the 3rd or 4th round.

      Waiting until round 2 or 3 to pick a #2 WR is fine unless you may also be drafting a potential fill in at #1if Gordon messes up again. I say draft Watkins at 4 and trade up if u think Carr is the guy. We have the picks

    OT Matthews or Robinson #4
    QB Carr or OLB Shazier #26
    WR Robinson or Adams #35
    ILB Borland or CB Desir #71
    CB Breeland, Jean-Baptiste or ILB Smallwood #83
    If we miss Carr at 26 then we will have to go with a developmental QB in 4th or later.
