Cat Zingano, the UFC female fighter that was in line to fightRonda Rousey before being sidelined with a torn ACL,has suffered a tremendous loss. It is being reported that her husband, Mauricio Zingano passed away after he hung himself.
Reports are sketchy at this point, but a source who is close to the UFC has stated Mauricio hung himself. The apparent suicide cannot be confirmed at this point. The authorities aren't releasing any details at this time.
Mike Chiappetta of FOX Sports confirmed that Mauricio had passed, and tweeted as much. Details should come to the surface soon, when they do Cleveland Sports 360 will get them out as soon as possible.
Our prayers go out to Cat in her time of need. She has suffered a lot of losses as of late and the last thing she needed was news of her husbands death. Cat was looking forward to climbing in the cage with Rousey before she suffered her torn ACL.
It isn't clear when Cat will be able to return to the cage, but this set back can't be healthy for her. Please keep her and her entire family in your prayers. She is going to need all the support she can get at this time.
Mauricio was an instructor in the Colorado jiu-jitsu and MMA community as well as being Cat's coach.
Once again all of us here at Cleveland Sports 360 wish to send out our condolences to Cat Zingano for her loss.
