Just after we got done talking about Jason Kipnis being in a slump at the plate, he stands in and hit one out of the park into deep center field. Kipnis has struggled so far this season at the plate and we were wondering when he could come out of it. We also wondered which Ubaldo Jimenez was going to take to the mound last night in Kansas City too.
It was good to see Jimenez pitch 7 innings and hold the Royals to just 3 hits. Jimenez looked like he was in control last night, this is the Jimenez the team is going to need if the Indians are going to be competitive in the A.L. East this season. Lets hope the Indians have the film of last nights game that they can give Jimenez to study on his days off. This is the Jimenez the Tribe traded for, he doesn’t show up that often, but when he does, it is fun to watch.
The Indians got a lot of help from their offense in the game. Asdrubal Cabrera had a good night as well. He went 2 for 3 and it was great to see him starting to get hot. The Indians offense was productive in the game. This is the kind of baseball Cleveland needs to play this season. The offense has to become more consistent. If they can play like they did last night, and Jimenez can continue to pitch like he did last night, it is going to be fun to watch baseball in Cleveland this season.
