Tristan Thompson didn’t take long to find his grove in the Cavaliers opener last night. Thompson is bringing plenty of power to the power forward position for Byron Scott, the coach has got to find a way to get Thompson more minutes in the games. Thompson opened his rookie season scoring 14 points in seventeen minutes in his rookie NBA debut. Thompson also was helpful in rebounds. While Irving struggled for the Cavaliers last night Thompson excelled.
Coach Scott has Thompson coming in off the bench as of now and Scott described Thompson’s shot as awful earlier this year. Now Scott has said Thompson’s shot has improved 100% and Scott still thinks it has to get better. Thompson looked pretty good to me last night and all pre-season too. In my opinion he could be one of the stars in the NBA sooner rather than later and the Cavs could use a star right now. If Tristan continues to play the way he has been playing, coach Scott has to get the rookie more minutes.
The Cavaliers lacked defensive discipline last night and Thompson is a player that could help to solidify the defense. The Cavaliers have got to find a way to utilize Thompson to his fullest.
