Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback, J.T. Barrett will undergo surgery today to repair the broken ankle he suffered in yesterdays game against Michigan. The Buckeyes won the game, over the Wolverines 42-28, but suffered a huge loss when Barrett went down.
Barrett was a real Heisman candidate. Head coach Urban Meyer was forced to start the young quarterback, when Braxton Miller the other Heisman candidate fell to injury before the season started. Barrett never missed a beat stepping when Miller went down.
Barrett set the single season touchdown record, breaking the record set by Drew Brees, when he was playing at Purdue.
Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer said; "We lost a Heisman contender today." Now Meyer will be forced to start Cardale Jones, in the Big-Ten championship game next week.
Jones will have big shoes to fill, stepping in for Barrett. Jones played well against Michigan. You just are left wondering what he can do, throwing the football. He only attempted 3 passes in yesterdays game, completing 2 of them for 7 yards.
The Buckeyes have had some tough breaks this season. Losing two real Heisman candidates in one season hurts. But somehow this Buckeyes team was able to respond, to the pressure, and win. Meyer should be proud of the way his team played this season.
The next guy up, indeed stepped up big this year.. Now Jones will be the next guy up, and when the season is over, Meyer will have a problem, most college coaches wished they had next season. Which quarterback, will the Ohio State Buckeyes start next season.
