The Cleveland Indians lost 2 games to the Detroit Tigers. They were forced to play the Motor City Kitties without one of their key rally guys. Nick Swisher, the guy who plays a huge role with the Indians was out on paternity leave.

Swisher and his wife actress, JoAnna Garcia welcomed a baby girl into their family. It is their first child. Swisher is the guy who gets this Indians team up for these big games. His loose personality helps the Indians get up for the big games.

The Indians who were able to handle Justin Verlander easily the last time they faced him couldn’t control the big guy this time around. Verlander who looked uncomfortable at times, was able to pitch well enough in the 5 innings he pitched to hold the Indians to 5 runs as he struck out 9.

Indians pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez pitched for 4 innings giving up 7 hits and 6 runs last night. He struck out only 3 Tigers on the night. David Huff who came in to relieve Jimenez, couldn’t get his stuff working.

Huff pitched only 1 inning and gave up 3 runs on 4 hits. He struck out 2. It was a tough night for the Indians bull-pen. Rich Hill pitched for 2 innings and he gave up 2 runs on 2 hits. He was the only Indians pitcher who gave up a home run to the power hitting Tigers line-up. Hill also stuck out 4.

Cleveland is still in first place in the A.L. central after the 11-7 loss to the Tigers in-game 2 of the series. The Tribe has a half game lead over the Tigers and will face another tough team when they start a 4 game series with the Boston Red Sox tonight.

Lets hope the team can get a winning streak going. They’re going to need it to stay ahead in the central.
