The Cleveland Indians extend their losing streak to 5 in a row. The team started Scott Kazmir and the Indians offense gave him some run support. That was something the last 4 starters couldn’t get. The problem was Kazmir couldn’t stop the Tigers from scoring.
He pitched for 5 innings and he gave up 7 hits and 4 runs. Then the bull pen took over and they gave up 6 more runs to the Tigers. You aren’t going to win many games this way. We knew the bull pen needed some help and the team ignored that before the trade deadline as well.
The Indians hopes of post season play are falling faster than the leafs on the trees in the Cleveland area. The team is now 8-1/2 games back in the A.L. Central and they are 4-1/2 games back in the wild card race.
Terry Francona has to be concerned. He can’t find a way to beat the team’s that are at the top of the standings. If you can’t do that, you don’t deserve to see post season play. The hard reality for Indians fans is it is all but over.
The team has only 27 games left and they would have to win most of them to have a shot at making it into the post season. Do we think that is going to happen? It is highly UN-likely.
