You don't get handed opportunities like this very often in MLB. The Cleveland Indians fell to the Atlanta Braves to lose their second game in a row to the best baseball team in the league. The Tribe blew an opportunity for the second night in a row to pick up a game on the Tigers.
Detroit was beat by the A's 14-4 and the Indians could have picked up a game in the race for the A.L. Central. The Indians continue to struggle with runners on base. The Indians had the bases loaded in the late innings of the game and they couldn't find a hit to get them into the lead.
The Indians are losing close games because their offense can't get the job done. They had plenty of opportunity to bring guys across the plate and they aren't able to execute. Cleveland needed one more bat brought in and for the second year in a row, the front office did nothing before the trade deadline.
The Tribe just can't get anything done when guy are on base. They were able to tie the game with the Braves and then they lost it in the 9th inning. The Indians started Masterson and he pitched well. Joe Smith is the losing pitcher.
The question of the day has to be, how does Chris Antonetti keep his job?
