If you are a fan of the Cleveland Indians, you have to be pretty happy this season. The Indians are playing some spectacular baseball, and they took 11 games from the Detroit this year.
The Indians tried for the sweep in game-3 of their latest series against the Tigers, but were beaten by a score of 12-2 in yesterday's matinée. Josh Tomlin got the start for the Indians and he was looking for his 10th win of the season.
He pitched for 4-2/3rd innings and gave up 7 hits and 8 runs, only 5 of those runs were earned runs. The Indians hitters faced Detroit's Michael Fulmer, and they really never got those red-hot bats going in the game.
Cleveland jumped into an early lead, going up 2-0 after 3 innings of play. But then the Tigers got their bats working against Tomlin in the 4th.
Next up for the Indians, are the New York Yankees, who have a record this season of 41-43. The Tribe is enjoying one of their best starts in years. They are 51-33 on the season and are still 6-1/2 games in front of the Tigers in the American League Central.
The Tribe has a 7-1/2 game lead over the 3rd place White Sox, and a 8-game lead over the Royals who have lost their last 4 in a row.
There's still plenty of baseball to be played this season, so lets hope the Indians can take care of the Yankees, and come out smoking in the second half of the season.
