The Cleveland Indians did it again, they lost to the Kansas City Royals. This is a team that the Indians should beat. They lost 7-1 and they could have moved up in the wild card race with a win. The Tribe is a 1/2 game back in the race for a wild card spot and they need to take this series in KC.
The Tribe sent Scott Kazmir to the mound and he didn’t have one of his best outings. He pitched for 5 innings and he gave up 5 runs on 7 hits. James Shields got the start for the Royals and he was able to completely control the Indians offense.
The Indians were only able to put one run on the board and that isn’t going to get the job done, especially when your starting pitcher is giving up 5 runs in the game. The only run the Indians got was off of a Lonnie Chisenhall home run in the 5th inning.
The Indians left 2 base runners on 2nd and 3rd in the first inning. We knew we were in for a tough night when that happened. The Indians once again put their inconsistent offense on display. If this Indians offense would have just played to their capabilities this season we wouldn’t be talking wild card race, we would be talking divisional championships.
For some reason when the Indians face a team they should be winning against the offense goes to sleep half the time. The Tribe is now 81-69 on the season and are still 1/2 game back in the wild card race.
