The Cleveland Indians will pay for the services of their closer Chris Perez in 2013 to the tune of 7.3 million dollars. Perez had no problem letting Indians fans know his thoughts last season. When he had something to say, he said it. This season with a new manager, I wonder just how much Perez will have to say. Perez always did his job for the Indians. Some thought he was shooting off his mouth last season as a way to get a one way ticket out of Cleveland. Nothing could have been further than the truth.
Perez likes playing for the Indians and he enjoys coming into the game to close it down and get a save for the Indians. Perez is an intense guy, he is an inspiration to the other guys in the Bull-Pen and he wears his emotions on his sleeve. Having Chris Perez in the Bull pen gives the Indians an advantage. With Francona as the Tribes new skipper I look for Perez to be a little more under control this season.
All Perez ever wanted was for the Cleveland Fans to come out and support the Tribe. Perez feeds off the fans and gets more intense when people fill the stands and make some noise. Perez compared the way the fans support other Cleveland sports teams in comparison to the Indians. With the new one year deal, I think we are going to see a new Chris Perez and I think the fans are going to come out to support the team. It is going to be a year of renewal for the Indians. The fans will go to see what this Francona led Indians team is all about. Chris Perez could end up pleasantly surprised in what could be his last season in an Indians uniform.
