Just a short time ago the Cleveland Indians set off on a 9 game road trip that saw them lose to teams in contention. This weeks started off with a trip to Baltimore to face another team that is in contention.
This time Ubaldo Jimenez and the rest of the Indians got the win. I must admit I was one of those a little worried about this trip to Baltimore. The Orioles are playing some pretty good baseball. They are in contention and the Indians have had their difficulties taking on teams that are in contention this season.
Last night it was a different story, the Tribe got 5-1/3 innings out of their starter Jimenez and they got some production out of their offense too. The Indians struggled to produce any offense in the first 5 innings of the game.
Then came the 6th inning when the Tribes offense decided to get busy. The Indians had a 3 run inning to take the lead and never look back. Cleveland got going when Nick Swisher singled to center driving in Jason Kipnis.
Then Michael Brantley the Indians star left fielder would single to center driving in Swisher and Santana. Michael Brantley is showing that he is one great ball-player. The guy never fails to amaze people.
He is Mr. Dependable for the Indians both in the outfield and at the plate. He hit another home run in the 8th inning driving in McDonald. When the smoke cleared the Indians would beat the Baltimore Orioles 5-2 and start off this 4 game series on a positive note.
The Tribe is now just 3-1/2 games back in the A.L. Central and 3 games above the .500 mark.
