Barkevious Mingo, fell into the laps of the Cleveland Browns with the number 6th pick in the 2013, NFL draft. Joe Banner said, this pick fits into Rob Chudzinski’s “attack even when you don’t have the ball philosophy.”

Chudzinski, said Ray Horton also had a hand in this pick. The Browns are planning on keeping Jabaal Sheard, who has proven to the coaching staff, that he could adapt to the 3-4 offense quickly. Mingo will give the team the ability to keep their pass rushers fresh throughout the game, according to head coach Chudzinki.

The Browns liked what they saw when they had Mingo for a visit, Chudzinski said he is the type of guy you like to sit and talk with. He said everyone who came into contact with Mingo liked his character. Chudzinski went onto say the Browns are going to play an attack defense that will disrupt their opponents quarterbacks.

Mingo is a piece of the puzzle that will help the Browns do that according to Chudzinski. Mingo was labeled as the,  LSU pass rusher. He is 6’4″ tall and weighs 241 lbs. The Browns may want to put about 10-12 pounds on him, but will be careful not to take away any of his athleticism.

Cleveland, is focusing on their defense this off-season. They picked up a couple of free agents and with the pick of Mingo, at 6, the team should be set up front. One of the concerns the Browns continued to over look on their defense has been the corner back position.

The team must feel, if they have a strong enough pass rush, they won’t need a solid secondary. Mingo, could help them do that. I did an article on February 8th saying I think the Browns could take Mingo as the teams first pick while I was agreeing with what the The Sports Network’s mock draft had to say. I guess we were right….. I still would have liked to see a shut down corner come Cleveland’s way….

Weren’t you hoping for Damontre Moore from Texas A&M with our 6th pick? Didn’t even get a sniff in the 1st round. Would love to have gotten Milliner, but hopefully Mingo can be a sack machine and take double teams off of Kruger. Let’s hope we can pick up a solid CB with our 3rd round pick or somehow get a 2nd round pick and get one. Without trading back and getting a 2nd rounder or drafting a CB, it doesn’t look like they will be targeting any QB’s to me.

I would have liked Moore, I would have liked Milliner too. But I did write an article on Feb. 8th saying I agreed that the Browns would use their first pick in the draft to take Mingo.

…and every mention of the draft after that point you were pulling for Moore…a third rounder that you wanted as the #6 pick. Let’s just thank the heavens that you are not in the front office. You may be a worse evaluator of talent than Lombardi, which explains your love affair with McCoy.
