There is a reason the Cleveland Indians are winning games in the second half of the season. They have a manager that knows what he is doing. The last 2 nights Terry Francona has made all the right calls to get his Cleveland Indians a couple of wins in the late innings of their game.

The Indians put together a 8th inning rally last night to give the Indians the lead after scoring 4 runs. Francona has made the right moves to help his club come from behind and it has to be fun to be Francona this season.

When he came to Cleveland the Indians fans knew they had something special, seeing him manage the Indians has shown them this guy knows what he is doing. The Indians put Ryan Raburn in to pinch hit last night for Jason Giambi who was the hero in game one against the White Sox.

Last night Francona made the right choice and it paid huge dividends. Ryburn was able to drive in a couple of runs that gave the Indians the lead. The Indians struggled throughout the game to get in the lead and it was great to see this team take over the game in the 8th.

The Tribe was trialing 3-0 after the 2nd but the Indians never gave up in the game. This is a team that has high hopes this season and it is showing that they believe they can accomplish their goal. The team is at a season best being 10 games over .500 at 58-48.

They play the White Sox 2 more times this week and if they can complete the sweep, they would win 8 games in a row. The Tribe is currently the hottest team in the American league, if they can keep it up they could make the play-offs.

You have to consider the Francona factor. This team could do something special this season and it will be great to see them make it into the play offs. Tribe fever is starting to get contagious on the North Coast of America. Especially when the Indians make a late inning move that give them a 7-4 win over the Chicago last night.

Francona has been great, but he is not making all the right moves, and has even made some bonehead moves, as well, He continues to call the same 3 guys out of the bullpen who have a nasty habit of giving up inherited runners and blowing games. Although ti worked out in the end, he made a totally wrong call in Monday’s game. With 2 on and nobody out, the team’s best hitter, Jason Kipnis, comes to bat. The previous two batters had both walked. Proper coach says, “make the pitcher throw strikes.” It also says, “don’t take the bat out of the hands of your best pitcher.” Francona calls for a bunt. A bunt??? Why give an out to a team and pitcher who is struggling to make one. An error was made and Kipnis wound up being safe. Typical Indians fashion, they were still only able to score 1 run with bases loaded and none out.
