Shurmur insists his quarterback Colt McCoy is getting better for the Cleveland Browns. Better at what Pat? Better at taking a hit, better at not completing first downs, better at not getting the Cleveland Browns into the end zone? If those are the things you are talking about then yes McCoy is getting better. When asked if he (Shurmur) thought of putting Seneca Wallace into the game against Houston Shurmur was very quick to say no.

Now that the Browns are half way through the season and they have a losing record I don’t see why he wouldn’t give Wallace a chance. I have written plenty of articles before the season started saying McCoy wasn’t ready to be the starting Q.B. for the Cleveland Browns this season. If I can see it from here then what the hell is Shurmur looking at?

McCoy is a decent player however this is the N.F.L. and the level of talent on the defensive side of the ball in this league is making McCoy look bad. The Browns should indeed give Wallace a shot. Why the team is letting McCoy stand in there and get killed by these N.F.L. defenses is crazy. The Browns came into the season weak on the offensive line, this isn’t helping McCoy get his confidence up at all.

Shurmur should be designing plays to let McCoy roll out, this kid is taking a beating and he is going to get hurt if this continues. Either call plays McCoy can be successful in get him some protection or put Wallace in. The Cleveland fans deserve better than what Shurmur is putting on the table week to week.
