Indians avoid the sweepThe Cleveland Indians were about to go down in a 4 game sweep to the Baltimore Orioles on the eve before the Detroit Tigers came to town. Shin-Soo Choo had other ideas as he hit a two run shot to right field that would drive in Kotchman, at last the Indians were able to get a runner on base across the plate and just like that the Cleveland Indians were able to give pitcher Justin Masterson some run support. The Indians needed this win to stop the bleeding, the Tribe had dropped the last four games in a row and were 4-1/2 games back in the A.L. Central.

Justin Masterson the Indians ace put another ace on the table for the Indians, he pitched 7-1/3 innings allowing just one earned run and 7 hits. Masterson gave up only one walk and had 6 strike outs. The Best set-up man in the major leagues Vinnie Pestano came in the 8th and pitched 2/3's of an inning and did what he does best, he closed the Orioles down and the Indians were able to add an insurance run when Michael Brantley got a base hit that would drive in Choo.

Indians closer Chris Perez came in in the ninth and got his 27th save of the season.

The Indians offense wasn't firing on all cylinders but it was firing enough to get the Tribe into the win column. It hasn't been easy in the second half for the Indians to get wins, they got one last night beating the Baltimore Orioles 3-1. This could be the spark that gets the fire going again for the Cleveland Indians and they are going to need some flames to deal with the red-hot Tigers team coming to town for a three game series starting tonight.
