The Cleveland Indians got a fantastic performance from starting pitcher Scott Kazmir last night. He struck out a season high 12 batters and he held the New York Mets without a run while giving up just 4 hits and the best part of his performance was he didn’t walk anyone.

It was a great performance from a guy the Indians didn’t know what to expect from this season. Kazmir is the guy that didn’t even pitch last season and now he has 8 wins for the Cleveland Indians. He got some help from another rising star on the club, Yan Gomes.

Gomes continues to perform well at the plate and he went 2 for 4 last night. The Indians got a grand slam out of Nick Swisher that really put the game out of reach for the Mets. Swisher has been streaking this season and he needed to do something to help his Indians win.

Cleveland got on the board early when Carlos Santana hit a sac fly in the 1st inning that drove in Bourn. The Indians have to keep striking early to give themselves a chance at post season play and the are now only 2 games back in the wild card race and 6-1/2 out of first place in the A.L. Central.

They currently have a 3 game win streak going.
