It was the opening drive for Braxton Miller and the Ohio State Buckeyes when Miller suffered a knee injury. It was the last thing head coach Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes fans wanted to happen to the Heisman hopeful. Braxton had to be carted off into the Buckeyes locker room to have his knee evaluated and fitted with a knee brace.
The Buckeyes never missed a beat in the game, Kenny Guiton the man many say is too slow with poor strength stepped in and led the Ohio State Buckeyes to a 42-7 victory over San Diego State to take the Buckeyes to their second win on the season in their quest for the National Championship.
How many pro teams wish they had a Guiton on their roster. He stepped right in and played like he was the starter. He completed 19 of the 28 passes he threw and rushed for a career high 83 yards. One of his rushing attempts was a 44 yard draw that lead to a OSU touchdown.
The Senior impressed head coach Meyer who said after the game; “[Guiton] does have a strong enough arm, he is fast enough,” “He’s just got to come in with more confidence, because when he does, it’s fun to watch.”
Meyer is right, it was fun to watch Guiton play, he helped the Buckeyes win and they can rely on him in case Miller is not ready to go next week. Chances are Miller will be ready, Meyer said if yesterdays game was close they could have brought Miller back in.
It was good to rest him to make sure his knee gets back to 100%. The Buckeyes may need both Miller and Guiton to get to the National Championship game this season.
