The Cleveland Indians were able to beat the Los Angeles Angels today in 10 innings. It was none other than Nick Swisher who hit a grand-slam home run in the 10th inning, to give the Cleveland Indians their 37th win of the season.
Swisher said the Indians had business to take care of this season, and today he showed the home-town crowd how it is done. He came to bat in the 10th innings, the Indians had the bases loaded and Swisher hit a grand slam home run, sending the ball deep over the right field wall, scoring Bourn, Kipnis and Santana, who were all waiting to great Swishers once he arrived at home plate.
The Tribe started Justin Masterson, who bounced back nicely from the terrible outing he had in his last start. Masterson pitched for 7 innings, allowing the Angels only 1 run in the game. He struck out 5, walked 3 and gave up 5 hits in his 7 innings of work.
The Indians looked like they were going to lose the game to the Angels, when L.A. scored 2 runs in the top of the 10th. Cleveland said, not this time. They loaded the bases and then Nick Swisher made sure to swing at a good pitch to drive deep.
What an exciting finish, to a game that looked like an old-fashioned pitching duel until the 10th. Trust me when I tell you, there was no one more excited about this win more than Nick Swisher.
