If you thought LeBron James was going to sign an NBA contract with any team other than the Cleveland Cavaliers, you don't know James. He was simply sitting back and watching as the Cavs signed other players. James inked a deal with the Cavs, that will pay the best player in basketball 47 million dollars over the next 2 seasons.
James will have a player option after year one. Then James can resign with the Cavaliers for probably some 30 million dollars a year. Lets not forget the new NBA television rights kick in next season. This will enable the Cavaliers to pay their players more money.
James will be looking to bring an NBA championship to Cleveland next season. The Cavs came close during the 2014-2015 season, the first year of the return of James. No one thought the Cavaliers would make it as far as they did.
When the team reached the finals, they were not running on all cylinders. If Kyrie Irving or Kevin Love were healthy the Cleveland Cavaliers probably would have beaten the Warriors, and James would have brought the championship back to Cleveland.
The Cavs are making all the right moves this off-season. They are bringing in the players that will add more depth to the team. James will have more of a supporting cast next season, and with their help, Cleveland should be able to contend.
I can see James staying with the Cleveland Cavaliers for the rest of his career. It's going to be interesting to see how the Cavs do next season. Stay tuned folks.
