There is little doubt that Michael Brantley is one of the most dynamic players the Cleveland Indians have on their roster. Brantley led the Tribe in hitting last year and is coming into this season doing some pretty impressive hitting this spring. Brantley is a great ball player and the Indians are fortunate to have him on the team. Not only can the Tribe fans see what a  great player Brantley is, the Indians front office does too.

They are already trying to extend his contract. The Indians have been working on a deal that would keep Brantley in Cleveland for some time now. Talks started before the Indians brought Bourn to Cleveland. He got a deal worth 48 million dollars when he signed. Brantley is worth every penny of a deal like that if not more. The Indians are smart to try to extend Brantley’s contract before the season starts.

Brantley played in 149 games last season and had 159 hits to lead all Indians in hits. This season the Indians will more him back to left field where he started with the Indians and it isn’t because he couldn’t play center field. He did a great job covering center field last season and he showed he is just an all around great ball player. I can’t wait to see what Brantley does this season.
