Justin Masterson went up against the Rangers Yu Darvish. We knew it was going to be a pitching contest in Cleveland last night but we didn't know there would only be one run scored in the game. The Indians were able to get 7-2/3's innings of outstanding pitching from their ace Justin Masterson who was able to strike out 8 and only walked 1 batter.
The Indians only run in the game came off a first inning home run from Michael Bourn. Masterson was the man, when the Indians pulled him in the 8th they sent Joe Smith to the mound and he retired the one batter he faced.
Then in the 9th the Indians sent in Chris Perez who did another outstanding job. This was the second game in a row when Perez pitched lights out stopping the Rangers in their tracks and preserving the win for the Cleveland Indians.
Yes, the game was a pitching duel, it was Justin Masterson and the Indians that came out on top of the Rangers 1-0. Masterson is now 12-7 on the season and his leads the Tribe in shut out games. The Indians are still 3 games back in the race for the A.L. Central, they are on a 3 game winning streak and hope to make in 4 in a row with another win over the Rangers today.
This team is for real folks.
