The Cleveland Indians lost another game in this second half. The offense is almost gone for the Tribe. The Indians saw Duncan,Santana and Lopez all go hit-less in the 4-2 loss in Tampa. The Indians used Carlos Santana as the D.H. last night in hopes the young catcher could find something that would spark his swing at the plate. Santana is struggling and the Indians are four games back in the A.L. Central. The Tribe has got to figure out a way to get the base runners across the plate. With about a week or so left before the trade deadline the Indians have got to find a guy that can spark their offense.
Carlos Santana's bat average is falling faster than a rock tossed from the main avenue bridge. In the Tampa Bay series Carlos Santana is 1 for 6 in his last ten game he has only driven on one run. The Indians aren't going to win many baseball games with one of their sluggers slumping like this. Then there is Shelley Duncan, just before the All-Star break Duncan showed signs of life at the plate. Last night in a game that could have used a couple of more runs Duncan went 0 for 4.
It's difficult to figure out this Shelley Duncan, just when you think the Indians need to make a change, Duncan comes alive and gets some hits. When the Indians are in a close game such as the Tampa game last night he gives you nothing offensively. The Indians haven't seen any consistency out of Duncan. The Indians haven't seen the consistency out of half their offense. The Tribe has to find a way to get their offense going if they expect to compete for the division. Will they make a move before the trade deadline? Only time will tell. They still have two games left in Tampa, lets hope they can get it going tonight. If they can't find their offense, it is going to be a long second half....
