The Cleveland Indians have now taken 2 out of the 3 games they have played in Baltimore. It was late inning heroics and a solid closing appearance from Vinnie Pestano that help the Tribe clinch their second game in Baltimore last night.
The Indians could take this series with a win tonight in game 4. If they lose they at least split the series and that is a task some didn’t think could happen. Baltimore is a tough team and the Indians have struggled with tough teams in the month of June.
The Indians continue to see Jason Kipnis add to his home run total this season. He now has 11 on the season after hitting a home run in the 4th inning that drove in Cabrera to give the Indians a 2-0 lead. The Tribe got 7 great innings of pitching from Scott Kazmir who continues to amaze people this season.
Kazmir only gave up one hit in last nights game, he struck out 4 and walked one batter. He is turning some heads around major league baseball. Meanwhile Joe Smith had a tough time trying to set up a win for Cleveland.
Smith gave up 3 hits and 2 runs and walked 1. If it wasn’t for the Indians never say die offense doing its job in the 9th to score 2 runs the Tribe would have lost this game. Chisenhall and Stubbs came through for the Tribe to drive in the runs that would send the Tribe into the lead and it was Vinnie Pestano who was able to come into the game and close down the Baltimore offense to help the Indians come away with the win.
