The Cleveland Cavaliers have been having their case of the Wine & Gold flu. Last night the news before the game was Kyrie Irving was the latest victim to fall ill and he wouldn’t play against the Grizzlies. Will, Kyrie played and he played pretty well. He scored 24 points and tried to help life the Cavs past Memphis. It was another case of the team not being able to step up a good defensive effort. The Cavs fell short in the 3rd quarter of the game. The Grizzlies were able to out-score Cleveland 32-18 in the 3rd period. That was the nail that sealed the deal for Cleveland to drop their 41st game on the season.
The Cavs seem to be putting a lot of pressure on the young Kyrie Irving, no other Cavs player scored more than 13 points in the game. Tristan Thompson only hit for 10 and Alonzo Gee put in 13 points in the game. The Cavaliers have to do better getting the ball spread around to guys that can score. Dion Waiters who played great when Irving was out only had 3 points in the game. Cleveland is not using guys like Waiters who proved he could help the team win enough. They have to take some of the pressure off Kyrie to be the only guy to score. Get the ball to Waiters, get the ball to Gee, they need to spread it around a little.
The team is getting too predictable. Every time the Cavs have the ball they are going to get it to Irving and count on him to get some points out of it. No wonder the guy is getting worn out.
