When the Cleveland Indians, send Justin Masterson to the mound,, you generally expect him to give you more than 2 innings of work. That wasn’t the case last night, when he got the start against the Boston Red Sox.
Mastersosn only pitched 2 innings, and it was clear, he was struggling to make it that far. He didn’t have his stuff, and anyone with a pair of working eyes could see it. In just 2 innings of work, he gave up 5 runs on 3 hits.
The problem was, Masterson walked 4. He is a guy that doesn’t walk many batters. For one reason or another, he was off the mark. His melt down helped the Indians extend their losing streak to 4 in a row.
Cleveland is now, 2 games below .500. They face the Red Sox in 2 more games. The Tribe has to find a way to pull it together. House gets the start today, and in his last game, he didn’t do very well.
The Indians starting pitching staff, is starting to struggle. It looked as the Indians were right in the thick of things, and now the melt down comes.
Cleveland needs to find a way to get things going consistently. It seems as though they have had problems all season trying to get things to jell. It’s either the offense is not there and the pitchers are, or it is the other way around.
If Francona can find a way to put it all together, this team can win. We’ve seen it in bits and pieces, but we haven’t seen it be consistent yet this season.
