Josh Tomlin had a tough outing as he and his Cleveland Indians took a beating by the New York Yankees. Tomlin only made it through three inning and he got hammered by a New York Yankees team that made the Indians look like they were totally out-matched. The Indians offense looked as though they forgot to show up, the Tribe could only get one run on the board and the Yankees came out swinging. Tomlin gave up six hits and 3 home runs for a total of six earned runs in the three innings he worked. The Yankees won the game 7-1.
The only thing that went the Cleveland Indians way was the White Sox lost and the Indians remained only a 1/2 game out of first place. If the Tribes offense can’t get it going they won’t be a 1/2 game back for long. Guys like Jason Kipnis, Asdrubal Cabrera and Carlos Santana the heart of the Indians batting order all went hit-less in the Yankees opener of the series. The Indians are suffering offensively and until they can get their act together it is going to be very difficult for the Indians to get some wins.
With the loss the Indians fall to 37-35, just two games above .500. The Tribe takes on the Yankees again tonight, Justin Masterson gets the start tonight, Mastserson has found his form and tonight will be a good test to see if Masterson is indeed on his way back. The Indians are going to have to find a way to get their offense going to give Masterson some run support. Lets hope the Tribe finds some answers and can get some runs.
