The Cleveland Indians had a diamond in the rough with Jeanmar Gomez. Now Gomez has become one of the best pitchers the Indians have on their roster. Gomez had a terrific outing against the Miami Marlins not allowing a run and only giving up three hits in 6-1/3 innings worked. Gomez has great control of his pitches only walking two and he struck out four as the Indians beat the Marlins 2-0. For the Indians Gomez has quickly become a guy they can have a great deal of confidence in.
Each time the Indians send Jeanmar Gomez to the mound Tribe skipper Manny Acta knows what he can expect from Gomez, it is a solid outing. The Indians needed a guy that could go out and pitch good baseball games. In Gomez they have exactly that. With the win over the Marlins Gomez now moves to 3-2 on the season, he has given the fans and the Indians organization the kind of efforts that produce winning games. Gomez should become one of the Indians premier pitchers for years to come if he can stay healthy.
The Indians also saw solid efforts from Joe Smith, Vinny Pestano and the Tribes closer Chris Perez really came in and slammed the door on the Marlins with a 1-2-3 9th when all three hitters were called out on strikes looking.
Today the Indians look to win the series against the Marlins, the Tribe will be sending Derek Lowe to the mound.
