Jason Kipnis continues to hit as the Cleveland Indians continue to win on their west coast road trip. Kipnis hit a base clearing triple last night to give the Cleveland Indians some runs they needed to assure the Indians of one more win on the road. The Indians moved well ahead of the Oakland A’s in the 8th inning when Jason Kipnis pulled off his triple to score two runs for the Tribe before Kipnis himself crossed the plate on a Brian Fuentes wild pitch. Kipnis is looking alive in his new role this year as the Indians full time second baseman.
The Indians got some solid pitching out of Jeanmar Gomez who only gave up 4 hits and one earned run in 5.1 innings worked. The Indians sent in Dan Wheeler to close out the fifth. Tony Sipp and Vinny Pestano both work an inning and both men did a great job. Manny Acta sent in Jairo Asencio who had a shaky ninth before the Indians Manager sent Tribe closer Chris Perez in to deal the final blow to the Athletics for the win 5-1 over the Oakland A’s.
The Indians finish up their road trip today with another game over the A’s. The Tribe is 7-1 on this west coast trip and only one game out of first place in the A.L.Central.
