This Saturday night Shawn “Showtime” Porter is out to prove nice guys don’t always finish last. Ohio’s own Shawn “Showtime” Porter is fighting Devon Alexander for the IBF welterweight World Championship belt.
Porter who is (22-0-1, 14 KO) has promised to take the title from Alexander (25-1-0, 14 KO) . Devon has said, “Porter is limited.”
Alexander chooses to ignore the fact Porter is a finally tuned fighter. Alexander chooses to recall a fight the two men had years ago at the Ohio State fair, where he claims he won.
The two men were only kids when that fight took place. It was an exhibition match and didn’t mean anything. Team Porter has worked extremely hard over the past few years.
Nobody has fought in more amateur matches than Shawn Porter, it is that kind of experience that has helped Porter get his shot at a world title this soon.
Porter is best known as Manny Pacquiao’s main sparring partner in his super bout against Miguel Cotto. It is experience like these that have helped Porter ready himself to fight for a title in his professional career.
Porter destroyed Phil Lo Greco in May. He clearly out classed him and then he took care of business by defeating Diaz in a September rematch.
Alexander said, he is going to get ready for this fight against Porter as though he was climbing into the ring with Floyd Mayweather. When Alexander feels the punching power of Porter, he is going to think he is in the ring with Mayweather.
Porter isn’t taking this fight lightly. He and his trainer/father Ken Porter have taken this fight very seriously. They know title fights don’t come along very often and team Porter is ready to rise to the occasion.
Shawn has said, Alexander is a great fighter. He won’t take that away from him. The only thing Porter plans on taking away is the belt.
Porter means business. He is in the best shape of his fighting life. He has put in the work and he is ready to show the world that Shawn “Showtime” Porter is a serious contender in the welterweight division.
His time is now, and he and team Porter plan on making the most of it.
