The Cleveland Indians pitching couldn’t stop the bleeding in last nights game as they gave up 5 home runs that would give the Washington Nationals a 7-6 win over the Tribe. The Indians battled in this game to extend their winning streak to 4 in a row.
It looked like they were going to do it taking a 6-5 lead in the late innings. The pitching wasn’t able to shut down the Nationals. Scott Kazmir who started the game for Cleveland gave up 3 of those home runs.
Then both of the best guys in the Indians bull-pen each gave up a home run. Joe Smith and Vinnie Pestano who usually come in and shut down the opposition were tagged with the long ball.
It wasn’t going to be the Indians night. They would lose the game they fought to win and they would fall back below .500. The Tribe has one more chance to take the series against the Nationals today.
They need to taker this game to get back to the .500 mark at 34-34 on the season. The Indians pitching staff has to find a way to refocus on the way they started the season. The bull-pen is who really have to regain their focus.
If they can’t it is going to be a long season. There is still plenty of baseball left to be played.
