The Cleveland Indians got off to a poor start in one of the biggest series of the season against the Oakland A's last night. This series is a battle for the Wild Card Spot in the American League. The Indians lost the the A's 3-2 and they did it with Justin Masterson on the mound for 7-2/3's innings.
Masterson falls to 13-9 on the season with the loss and the Indians fall to 65-57 on the season. Masterson gave up 7 hits and 3 runs while walking only one and striking out 4. The big hit Masterson gave up came in the first inning when Yoenis Cespedes hit a home run that scored 2.
The Indians offense continues to struggle. They could get on the score board until the 3rd inning when Carlos Santana hit a single that drove in Swisher. The Indians should have been able to get more runs in the inning but they didn't. They did what they have done best as of late, they left guys stranded on base.
The Tribe would find another run until the 7th inning when Nick Swisher drove in Stubbs with a single to right. The Tribe has to find a way to take this series against the A's. The Indians have to get their offense going and they have to score some runs.
If they can't beat the A's and take this series their hopes of finding the wild card spot won't be good.....
