The Cleveland Indians have now lost the last 3 games against the Detroit Tigers. They tried to make it a game and it looked good for a long time. They were tied at 4 and would force the game into extra innings.

It was a long night of baseball that didn’t come to an end until just short of midnight. The Indians would give up 2 runs in the 14th inning, when Prince Fielder sent a double to deep left center that he hit off of Indians reliever Marc Rzepczynski.

The Tribe had one more chance to try and tie or take the lead in the bottom of the 14th and they did produce a run when Michael Bourn hit a double that drove in Mike Aviles to pull with in one run. The Indians would send their fans home with a broken heart for the 3rd night in a row.

The Tribe just can’t find a way to beat the Motor City Kitties. Some how Detroit finds a way to come back and beat the Indians. The Tribe pitchers just can’t dominate the Tigers and Detroit’s offense always finds a way to put runs on the board.

The Indians have one more game left in the series and they need a win to lift their spirits. The Tribe is now 62-52 on the season and remain 6 games back in the A.L. Central. The Indians had high hopes coming into this Detroit series and so did the fans.

Sadly, our focus is now reduced to the wildcard. I say this as the reality is reduced to good old math.
Detroit has 67 wins, and 50 games to play. Just playing 500 ball = 92 wins.

Cleveland has 62 wins and 48 games to play and to edge out Detroit will need 93 wins. That’s 31-17 the rest of the way = 646 ball. Not going to happen. The best record in MLB belongs to the Pirates at 611.

Let’s not forget Kluber’s (season ending?) injury, the bullpen woes and that our #4 hole hitter (Asdrubal) is hitting .204 with RISP.

So, best hope for 2013? Wildcard or it’s wait until next year.

I’m a Life Long Tiger fan but I think the Indians are just a couple of good players away from being real contenders. Your playing a team (Tigers) that are really good and are on a real roll. Hang in there, your time is coming. Oh, and tell the idiots to knock of the ‘Detroit Bankrupt’ crap. It only takes away from the class most of your fans and your city has.
