Losing the best set-up man in all of major league baseball hurts. That is exactly what the Cleveland Indians are going through, putting Vinnie Pestano on the 15-day-disabled list. Pestano is suffering from a sore right elbow. The pitcher says, it is not related to the Tommy-John surgery he had before coming to the Cleveland Indians.
Originally Pestano thought he would be able to work through the pain. When he reported to the ball-park yesterday, the decision was made to put Vinnie on the shelf for a while. It could be a smart move on manager Terry Francona’s part.
Pestano is the type of player who wouldn’t want to miss time with the team. He has more intensity than most team’s with all their players do. Pestano is a competitor and for him to miss time, you know he has to be hurting. Hopefully, this is just a minor bump in the road for Pestano. The Indians are going to need the services of the best set-up man in the major leagues before this season is over.
The Cleveland Indians knew when they brought Pestano into a game, it was like having an automatic 3 outs. Now, with Pestano side-lined, they just might have to work a little harder at it. He will be back stronger than ever if I know Vinnie Pestano…..
