The Indians got off to a hot start again Sunday afternoon. Chin-Soo Choo and Travis Hafner roped back to back 2-out doubles to go ahead 1-0 over the Oakland A’s. Justin Masterson’s struggles continued though, as he only went 5 inning allowing 4 runs on 6 hits with 6 walks and 2 strikeouts. The offense didn’t do anything after the first despite some hard hit balls and walks. The 5-1 loss snaps the Tribes 3 game winning streak and send their overall record to 8-6, 1 game behind the Detroit Tigers in the A.L. Central.
The loss means the Indians went 7-2 on their KC/west coast road trip. Sweeping the Royals last weekend then the huge 9-8 comeback win Tuesday night in Seattle. The first loss of the road trip was 4-1 on Wednesday then the Tribe came right back in the 9th inning the next night with Jack Hannahan’s 2-run 9th inning single, denying Felix Hernandez of the impressive win. Asdrubal Cabrera, who missed the last 2 series’, will return to the lineup Tuesday. Key notes from the week are the impressive stats of Travis Hafner, Shelley Duncan and Jack Hannahan. Also the impressive pitching of Josh Tomlin, Chris Perez and Jeanmar Gomez. Indians next game will be Tuesday night back home at Progressive Field against our pals, the KC Royals.
