The Indians had two guys representing the team in Kansas City for the All-Star game. One guy was there to save a win for the American league, Indians closer Chris Perez who has one of the best save records this season in the American League. The problem for Perez was the game was over after Verlander's first inning. The American league was shut out last night and Perez had no chance of saving anything in the All-Star game. The only thing worse than not getting the nod to go to the All-Star game is getting there and never going into the game. That is what happened last night as the National League blew out the American League.
Perhaps the American League should have started Chris Perez, he could have saved the game in the first inning then the American League could have had a chance to win. It was ugly for the A.L. the team couldn't get anything going against the N.L. last night. Hey at least Perez made the trip, whether they used him or not, he was there and he is an All-Star in the eyes of all the Indians fans. If he continues to throw the way he is throwing this year Perez will have another chance. Hopefully next time the American League will have a chance to use the Save-Master...
