The Cleveland Indians went on to beat the Minnesota Twins last night 8-7 at progressive field. The Tribe should have been able to easily win this ball game by a lot more than one run. The Indians bull-pen is struggling, and they have struggled for a long time.
Vinnie Pestano who stepped into the Tribes closing spot win Perez went down, has proven he is either not ready for the closing spot or his arm injury that put him on the D.L. earlier is still bothering him. Pestano who would come in in the 8th inning as the Indians set-up man hasn’t had his best performances as the Indians closer.
He gave up 2 runs in the 9th inning last night, he gave up a home run in the 9th that let the Twins pull within one. If the Indians expect to contend through the second half of the season, the bull-pen is going to have to do a better job.
The Tribe has won 4 in a row and has been able to take the last 3 series they have played. If they can continue to play this kind of baseball they should be able to get to the play-offs. The Bull-Pen is going to have to step up and do a better job if they expect to seriously contend this season.
Many thought is would be the the Indians starting pitching would be the problem coming into the 2013 season. Little did they think the Indians bull-pen would struggle. That is what injuries can do to a team.
