The Cleveland Indians going to the play-offs as a wild card team. How about that folks. The guy who is the most responsible for the Indians reaching fall play is an unsung hero that goes by the name of Mickey Callaway.

He is the Indians pitching coach and he is the guy that turned a questionable starting rotation into one of the best starting staffs in all of baseball in the second half of the season. He is the guy that turned Ubaldo Jimenez into a winning pitcher in 2013.

Lets face it folks. a lot of people thought the Indians starting rotation was going to be a bust coming into the 2013 season, the rotation was one of the biggest question marks the Indians had coming out of spring training.

What we weren’t considering was what a great job Callaway was going to do getting these guys to the top of the standings as starting pitchers. When the Indians go for the sweep over the Astros today and if Mickey Callaway makes his way to the mound, the fans should come to their feet and give Callaway a standing ovation. He earned it this season and he deserves a lot of the credit for the Indians making it into post season play.

Callaway is the hero this season. he took what he had to work with and he turned them into winners. Without the efforts of Callaway, I doubt we would be seeing fall play in Cleveland. Congratulations to Indians pitching coach Mickey Callaway, you have performed your duties at a level we haven’t seen in years.
