Colt McCoy hasn’t practiced in two weeks after suffering an illegal hit from James Harrison the last time the Cleveland Browns faced the Pittsburgh Steelers. Yet Browns head coach Pat Shurmur feels the need to consider playing McCoy if McCoy is able to practice today. Shurmur isn’t using his head. Why risk playing McCoy? The Browns have nothing to gain from McCoy playing at all. Seneca Wallace moves the Browns Offense and the Steelers haven’t seen Wallace except for a couple of plays after Colt got banged up.
Shurmur should just keep things the way they are right now in Cleveland. Why risk McCoy in the last game of the season? The Browns can win with Wallace. The team needs to stay focused and learn how to manage the clock and the Browns would have a chance. Cleveland’s defense was able to keep the Browns in the game in the first meeting with the Steelers and I have a feeling the defense will really step it up a little more in this meeting with the Steelers. Sure McCoy was the starter this year but it’s time to go out and try to win a football game for the fans.
Putting in a rusty Colt McCoy Sunday doesn’t seem like smart coaching to me. If the Browns want to win this football game then I say start Wallace and if he goes down then put McCoy into the game. You can bet your last dollar James Harrison will be looking for the chance to pop the Cleveland quarterback.
