The Cleveland Browns have sent the most loyal fans a team can have, into shock this week. First it was the news the team would give Brian Hoyer the start against the Vikings, then will out any warning at all, the team traded a fan favorite. Now, the fans think the Browns have thrown the season out with these decisions.
Nothing could be further from the truth. Cleveland wants to win and all the fans have to do is take team owner Jimmy Haslam’s word on it. You hear him since he came to Cleveland, he is always talking about turning things around and providing a winner for his loyal fans.
The news of these moves might be too much shock to take at the moment, but if Hoyer and the Browns come back from Minnesota with the team’s first win of the 2013 season, the fans will feel just fine. Then there will be the shock of the Browns parting ways with the other 2012 first round pick.
The front office has no love loss, for quarterback Brandon Weeden. I can almost see the team’s CEO Joe Banner flying to Minnesota with Hoyer early and rushing his young quarterback Hoyer to the nearest temple to have him blessed by a Rabi to do well in Sunday’s game.
This way Banner will look like a super star when he comes out next week to tell the fans, he was right about Weeden, and how they gave him every opportunity to be the Browns quarterback in 2013 but Weeden couldn’t get the job done.
If Hoyer wins Sunday, this will be a new era in Cleveland Browns football. Banner and Lombardi will do what ever they can to part ways with Weeden and so the city of Cleveland they were right about the soon to be 30-year-old quarterback.
If that happens, Who could blame these guys? After all they did give Weeden the shot they said he would get. His skills set just wasn’t able to handle it. He too will become a victim of the new regime.
I think we are going to see the Browns get their first win this Sunday. The defense is that good……
