It looks like the Cleveland Browns may have made a good pick with a number one. Barkevious Mingo who was injured in the preseason has had a great week of practice according to head coach Rob Chudzinski.
Chud said Mingo, will play an important role this Sunday when the Browns take on their divisional rivals, the Cincinnati Bengals. There is a lot of concern over Mingo’s size, he is too light according to some but he makes up for it with his speed.
Mingo can get to the quarterback as fast as anyone in the NFL, and Sunday the Browns will be counting on Mingo to get to Andy Dalton, especially if Jabaal Sheard can’t start.
The Browns defense is going to be key this week. The Bengals have some very talented receivers and the Cleveland secondary has to be on its toes.
If Mingo and the rest of the Browns front 7 can get to Dalton, they will help their secondary by not giving the Bengals quarterback time to throw.
That’s where Mingo comes in, he is going to have to help with his speed. If the Bengals have to double up on Mingo, the others can step it up and get to the quarterback. Cincinnati has a decent running game, but the Browns defense has played the run very well this season.
Stopping the run will be huge and then they can focus on disrupting the Bengals passing attack. Many don’t think the Browns can beat the Bengals, but we think they are going to surprise a lot of people this week and it will be the Browns defense and Mingo who control this game.
