Dan Herron returned to the Ohio State Buckeyes today in prime fashion. Herron’s returned help the Buckeyes defeat undefeated Illinois which has to be the upset of the day. Herron hasn’t played since January in the Sugar bowl due to NCAA suspensions and I’ll be Illinois is wishing Herron would have sat out for one more game. Herron ran for 114 yards and one touchdown today in Ohio States victory which has to be looked at as an upset. Ohio State started freshman Braxton Miller who didn’t complete a pass until the fourth quarter.
Miller hit Jake Stoneburner in the fourth for his first completion and a touchdown to put the Buckeyes on top in this one 17-0. It would be the Buckeyes defense that came up big in this game forcing three turnovers, two of them resulted in O.S.U. touchdowns including one that Herron scrambled in fro a 12 yard touchdown after Bradley Roby’s interception which put the Buckeyes up 10-0 in the third quarter. The Buckeyes would never look back from there, Ohio State never trailed in the game today.
The Buckeyes really needed to pull off a win today and they did. It has got to be a shock to the Illinois fans. quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase was 20-of-34 for 169 yards, two interceptions and a late TD pass.
