Indians pitcher Danny Salazar, threw his best game of the season in San Francisco. He pitched for 7 innings and gave Terry Francona and the Indians his most solid outing of the season thus far. Salazar stuck out 8 and only allowed one run on 5 hits and only walked one batter.
This is the Salazar the fans and the Cleveland Indians want to see this season. All of his hard work was erased by the fact the Indians bats couldn’t get anything going and the Giants were able to hit a game winning walk off home run off of Indians reliever Cody Allen in the 9th inning.
The Indians were swept by the Giants, giving their fans one more reason to complain about inner-league play. The fans don’t like it and right about now I’ll bet the Indians don’t like it.
Even though the team lost, they took away a win with the way the young Salazar was able to perform. He has struggle this season and there was concern about sending the young ace down to the minor leagues to see if he could find the magic he had last season when he was called up.
The Indians fall to 11-14 on the season and are in last place in the American League Central, 3 games out of first place. Cleveland needs to get some hitting consistency. The team needs to get some runs.
Carlos Santana went 0 for 4 in this game and continues to struggle hitting in the fourth position. This isn’t going to help the Tribe win many games. The Indians bats have to get hot and they have to get hot soon….
