The Cleveland Indians have now dropped their fifth game in a row. They lost to the Angels again last night and also watched as their second baseman Jason Kipnis left the game and went into the club-house with what appeared to be a right abdominal strain.
The Indians can’t afford to lose Kipnis, they need him for his defense and they need his bat, even though it hasn’t been working as well as it should. Kipnis is a vital part of the Indians, and when you suffer any kind of abdominal strain, these injuries can linger for weeks.
Kipnis hit into a double play in the 4th, he tried to beat out the throw and then as soon as the play was over he left the field clinching his right side, went into the Tribes dug-out and then into the club-house with one of the Indians trainers.
The has been a brutal west coast road trip. The Indians will be glad to get back to Cleveland to regroup. This team needs to regain its focus and they have got to find a way to do it quickly. They lost their 5th game in a row and have to find a way to get their bats going.
Losing 5 games in a row hurts, but losing 2nd baseman Jason Kipnis has to hurt more.
