What a difference a couple of weeks can make. The last time the Indians took on the Detroit Tigers, it went all Cleveland’s way. This time things are falling the Tigers way. On a night at Progressive field, when the fans came out to pay tribute to one of the greatest Indians short stops of all time, the Detroit Tigers were able to steal one away from the Tribe.

Fans filled the seats, to watch Omar Vizquel get inducted into the Cleveland Indians hall of fame. Vizquel was an electrifying player for the Cleveland Indians. He was well deserving of the honor, and now his likeness will live in center field for ever.

But it was another former Cleveland Indian, that would deliver a few blows to the Indians in-game 2 of this 3 game series. Once again the Indians would see Victor Martinez take an Indians pitcher over the wall in right field.

The Tigers jumped into the lead in the 2nd inning, but it wouldn’t last long. The Indians tied the game up in the 2nd and it would stay that way until the 4th when Cleveland took the lead 2-1, off of a Carlos Santana home run.

Detroit tied it at 2 in the 6th when none other than Victor Martinez, hit a single to center that drove in a run.

It was a back and forth game and the Indians would score runs in both, the 8th and 9th inning to send the game into extra innings. The Indians have pulled a few games out in extra innings, but it wasn’t going to be their night.

Miguel Cabrera, hit a double to deep center field, and sent what would be the winning run across the plate. Cleveland had one last chance but fell short. Hopefully they can avoid the sweep today. The Indians lost last night 5-4.
